Michael J. McCarvill, 72, of Superior, died Tuesday October 27, 2020 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center, Duluth.
Mike was born August 11, 1948 in Crosby, MN, son of Francis and Barbara (Brandt) McCarvill.
Mike and his family moved to Superior when he was eight years old. He attended grade school in Superior and graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1966. After graduating from high school he started to work on the Northern Pacific Railroad. He continued his work with the railroad until his retirement as section foreman with the Burlington Northern Railroad.
Some of his interests included walking and sharing his Christian testimony. While in Superior, Mike often volunteered in a jail ministry at the Douglas County Jail. Prior to his illness, Mike was actively involved with Eagles Wings, a street ministry in Duluth. For many years, Mike shared his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with many on the streets of Duluth.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Barbara McCarvill.
Survivors include his sister, Mary (Robert) Johnson, Barnes, WI; nephew, Greg (Michelle) Johnson, Superior; niece, Erika (Tim) Kaufman, Poplar; four grandnephews, Tucker Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Tanner Kaufman, and Jay Kaufman; and two grandnieces, Addy Johnson and Tori Kaufman.
A private funeral service will be held at Downs Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Peterson, of Invite God Ministries, will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided Michael this past year.
