Michael W. Murphy, 57, died peacefully with his loving family by his side, Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at South Bay Medical Center in Harbor City, CA.

Mike was born in Superior on January 29, 1962, the son of Robert and Audrey Murphy. He graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1980 and worked most of his life for the family business NAP Beverage. In most recent years, Mike worked for the University of California Santa Cruz as a Restoration Specialist, where he lived and worked on Mount Hamilton preserving and restoring the Lick Observatory.

He loved the outdoors, going fishing on the Brule River, and deer hunting in Barnes, WI. Most important to him was spending time with his family, especially with his kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Megan (Vern) Holsclaw; son, Sean (Ashley Erickson) Murphy of Superior; grandchildren, Landon and Braydon Holsclaw and Aurora and Keagan Murphy; and sisters, Colleen Namaste of Superior, Erin Murphy of Solon Springs and Kelly (Jeffrey) Oliver of Burke, VA.

Visitation will be on Thursday Nov. 21, from 5:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci will officiate. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hawthorne.
