Michael J. Schiesser, 80, of Superior, died Tuesday, October 29, 2019 after a lengthy illness at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, surrounded by his family.

Michael was born in Superior on Jan. 5, 1939 the son of Michael L. and Elizabeth Schiesser. He graduated from Cathedral High School with the class of 1957. He married Carol Asher on Sept. 1, 1962.

He served his country in the US Airforce. He worked for the Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, SD, Super Wood in Duluth, and retired as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service. Following retirement, he worked as a courier for Community Bank.

Mike enjoyed hunting, especially Deer and Turkey, fishing, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty & Ralph Asher.

Mike is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol; sister, Mary (Bing) Hanson of Solon Springs; sisters-in-law, Alice (Carl) Avery of Superior, Linda (Dan) Smith of Port Wing; brother-in-law, Steven Asher of Superior; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 4 ^th from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Assumption Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
