Michael J. Wiisanen, 56, of Superior died unexpectedly Saturday, December 10, 2016 at his residence after an illness.

Michael was born on Mar 26, 1960 the son of Harry and Marilyn Wiisanen.

He had sailed on the Great Lakes for many years earning his Seaman's card. One of the ships he sailed on was the Stewart J. Cort Hauling Iron Ore to Gary, Indiana.

Michael was a fan of the Vikings and the Twins. He loved to work on cars. Most of all he enjoyed being with people and making them happy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael is survived by his daughters, Melissa Wiisanen and Michelle Bayard both of St. Cloud; grandson, Christian Estrada; brothers, Russell (Rose) Wiisanen of North Bay, Ontario, Thomas (Nancy) Wiisanen of Poplar, WI and Jerry (Brenda) Wiisanen of Superior; and his nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 18 ^th from Noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Peter Rich Center, 1201 N 8 ^th St., Superior.
