Obituary

Mildred L. Ahlborg, 94, of Superior suffered a stroke and peacefully passed away April 23, 2018 at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

Millie was born Aug 3, 1923, in Superior, to Richard and Ellen (Neelund) Hill. She attended lower school in Wentworth and graduated from Central High School, where she was a member of choir and triple trio. She sang with a vocal trio for WEBC local radio and stage choir at the Palace Theatre. She was later employed at Dr. Burns Optical.

She married Captain John G. Ahlborg; loving mother of Jeffrey, Debra, Kevin (Nagwa) Ahlborg, & Lori Mittlestadt; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Johnson, Jeffrey John (Christina) Ahlborg, Nadia, John, Marc, & Carl Ahlborg, Colin (Marissa) Wimes & Erica Mittlestadt; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Marie and Logan Johnson, Caden and Maxwell Ahlborg, and Dominick Wimes and baby sister on the way; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband; sisters, Evelyn Nordley, Alice Neilsen, Etheleen Overhulser, and Violet King; and brothers, Edwin, Raymond, and Gene.

Lifetime member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, its choir, and Thursday Morning Quilters. Enjoyed playing cribbage, smear, and solving puzzles.

Millie was a caring soul, wonderful mother, a civic-minded organizer, an active supporter of her church family, and so much more. She will be interred at Graceland Cemetery. A memorial service is being planned for friends and family at Pilgrim on August 3, 2018 (this summer). Another announcement will be made around that time.
