Mildred Lillian Erickson, 98, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2015. She was born on January 4, 1917 to John and Hilda Lindgren and was a lifelong resident of Superior.
Graduating in 1935 from Central High School, Mildred worked at City Hall before her marriage to Clarence Erickson on December 2, 1939. She worked briefly for the Erickson Trucking Company but mostly remained a homemaker for her husband and daughters. She loved to spend summers at their cabin on Dowling Lake and belonged to the Tri-Lakes Civic Club. Mildred also enjoyed sketching portraits, reading mysteries (often solving them before the end of the book), working crosswords and sharing time with family and friends. She remained in her home until the age of 95 when she moved to the Lighthouse Assisted Living Facility where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Clarence; daughter, Bonnie Krieger; her parents; brothers, Edward, Godfrey, and Harold; sisters, Agnes, Hildur, Gladys and Violet; and infant great-grandson, Brandon Krieger.
She is survived by her daughters, Arlene (Dennis) Brown of Rio Rancho, NM and Diane (Larry) Tewalt of Siren, WI; son-in-law, Dennis Krieger of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren, Sheryl (Michael) Cohn, Steven Brown, Brian (Cyndi) Brown, Pam Krieger, Paul (Lynda) Krieger, Penny (Mike) Schneider, Tim (Gail) Tewalt, Chris (Katie) Tewalt; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held on October 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Ave., Superior. Chaplain Sara Lund of Essentia- St. Mary's will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. A private burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Tewalt, Chris Tewalt, Paul Krieger, Don Setterstrom, Doug Setterstrom and Craig Banker.
The family would especially like to thank the nurses and staff at the Lighthouse for the care and friendship given to Mildred; and to Chaplin Sara Lund, Dr. Viran and nursing staff at Essentia Health for their guidance and comfort.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave., is assisting the family with arrangements.
