Mildred I. 'Millie' (Kronberg) Lundquist, 93, of Superior, died Tuesday, September 01, 2015 at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living.
Millie was born in Estonia on May 8, 1922, to Christian & Maria Kronberg. Her family moved from Estonia to New York in 1923 after her 1st birthday. They then moved to Superior, WI where Millie graduated from Central High School in 1939. She continued on to vocational school until she married Ensel N. Lundquist on April 12, 1942. They had two children: a daughter, Darlene who was born in 1944; and a son, Dean born in 1948.
Millie was a talented artist. Her paintings won several blue ribbons at the fair each year. She served on the election board of the Town of Superior; was a member of the "Old Town Artists," Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, and the Women's Missionary Group of Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and knitting, and she made many socks, mittens, dish cloths and clothes for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ensel and son Dean; her sister, Pauline (Carl) Johnson; and her brothers John (Charlotte), Herman (Edna) and August Kronberg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Eugene Lundquist, Florence (John) Johnstad, Helen Exstad and Charles Lundquist.
Millie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Norman Groehler and their two children: DeAnn (Nathan) Carlsgaard of Superior and Paul (Debra) Groehler of Rochester, MN; great-grandchildren, Sanna Carlsgaard of Superior and Aaron, Sydney & Gavin Groehler of Rochester; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Olive Kronberg, Clifford Lundquist, Evelyn Brunell and Barbara Lundquist and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Saturday Sept 5, at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. Pastor Jenny Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Millie's family wishes to thank Cedar Ridge Assisted Living for the wonderful and loving care they provided to Millie for the past five years.
