Milon A. Kuhlman, 81, of Superior died Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Solvay Hospice House in Duluth after a short battle with cancer.
He was born September 29, 1931 in Ruthton, Minn. to Edward and Lily (Rasmussen) Kuhlman.
Milon was employed by U.S. Steel as an open hearth operator and a clerk for 40 years. He also served his country in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge #606 where he served as Sergeant at Arms, was on the Ritual Team and had served as an officer of the lodge before becoming Governor. He enjoyed Grouse hunting and berry picking. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him and he always had a joke and a smile for everybody.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline (Carlson) of sixty years; a son, Dale (Lou) Kuhlman of Superior; a daughter, Denise (David) Midbrod of South Range; grandchildren, Adam (Jen) Kuhlman, Nicholas (Deanna) Benjamin, Jessie Kuhlman and Nathan Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Hazel Kuhlman, Symon and Brogan Benjamin and Cayden Reamer; his sisters, Dorothy (Richard) Landsverk of Fountain Valley, Calif., Lavona (Donald) Meiners of Caledonia, Minn., Geneva Peloquin of North St. Paul, Minn., Myrtle Gipe of Cerritos, Calif. and Ethel Bleninger of Browerville, Minn.; and a special cousin, Dianne Frank of White Bear Lake, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Virgil.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th & Ogden, with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. The visitation will resume at Pilgrim Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service with Rev. Will Mowchan and Rev. Gary Garnatz co-officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Adam, Jen and Jessie Kuhlman and Nicholas, Deanna and Nathan Benjamin.
If friends so desire, memorials can be made to Solvay Hospice House, Pilgrim Lutheran Church or Bethel Lutheran Church.
