Muriel A. Olson, 88, of Superior, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth.

She was born October 16, 1929, in Superior, daughter of Gustav and Agnes (Ericsen) Alenius.

Muriel was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary.

Being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was her priority and was a role she truly cherished. She was there for her family and they always looked forward to her loving presence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur H. Olson in 1999; grandson, Gerald (Jerry) Peterson; brothers, Art and Gottfried Alenius; sister, Laura Ostlund; brothers-in-law, Alvin Ostlund and John Olson; and sisters-in-law, M. Margaret Alenius, Lillian Olson and Gladys Olson; and niece, Nancy (Alenius) Case.

Survivors include her daughters, Julie (Doug) Peterson, and Jill (Paul) Olson; sons, John (Jeanine Rybak) Olson, and Jim (Suzie) Olson; 8 grandchildren, Amy (Mike McDonald) Janicki, Lindsey (Craig) Jacobson,  Mindy (Tom) Fry, Lauren (Justtan Brown) Olson, Jamie Olson, Christina (Brandon) Derrick, Courtney (Zach) Lieble, and Taylor Sanders; 7 great-grandchildren, Trevor and Caylee Derrick, James and Chase Lieble, and Tyler, Devin and Isabella McCormick; nieces, Sandy (Roger) Brietzmann and Marleen (Harold) Carlson; and special friend, Ed Thorsell.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service at noon, Monday, March 26, 2018, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19 ^th Street, Superior, with Gary Banker officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Superior, at a later date.
