Myrna Gail
Willoughby
December 2, 1930 – January 5, 2023
Myrna Gail Willoughby, 92, of Foxboro, passed away peacefully in the home of her son, Dan, in Columbus, Ohio on January 5th, 2023.
Myrna was born in Superior, WI on December 2, 1930, to John M. and Tillie Stewart. She grew up on the family farm just south of Superior in Boylston. Having grown up before television, she listened to the radio often. Hop Along Cassidy episodes were her favorite. She also sang along with her favorite records. Myrna could sing all the words to the "Strawberry Roan", "Does the Spearmint Lose Its Flavor On The Bedpost Over Night" and songs from musicals even into her nineties. Myrna loved music and especially enjoyed listening to Jim play his guitar. She was an avid baseball fan and could keep up with the best sports fan in conversation. Myrna loved nature and the farms where she lived all of her life.
Myrna raised six children and ran the family farm while her husband, Jim, worked on the railroad. She even drove a truck loaded with pulp wood for delivery to Duluth for several years which was quite the sight to see such a petite woman driving a very large truck.
Myrna attended Darrow Road Wesleyan Church for nearly 60 years. For many of those years, she played the piano for the church's nursing home ministry as well as provided and served food for church functions.
She was a kind woman who loved history and learning, had a quiet sense of humor, and enjoyed people. Everyone who met and knew Myrna loved her.
Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and two of her daughters, Cynthia Lloyd and Cheryl Wick as well as a baby sister, Mary.
She is survived by her brother Gerald (Jean) Stewart, sons Daniel (Nancy) Willoughby and Douglas (Kari) Willoughby and daughters Gail (Tom) Spellings and Diane (Tim) Wickstrom, son-in-law John Wick ll, and Dowlen Lloyd. She also is survived by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
We will miss her on Earth, but we rejoice that we will see her again in Heaven.
Visitation will be at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church, 4020 S. Darrow Road, Superior, WI from 1pm-3pm, Friday, January 27th with the funeral at 3:00 pm. Refreshments to follow. Memorials can be given to Darrow Road Wesleyan Church.
