Mrs. Myrtle L. (DeMars) Hunter, 90, of Superior, passed away of natural causes Saturday, August 4, 2018, surrounded by family at Essentia Health St. Mary's in Superior.
She was born in Rice Lake, WI, on June 18, 1928, the daughter of Felix and Ruth DeMars.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Hunter; daughters, Barbara L. Hunter and Gloria R. (Hunter) O'Connell; son, Charles R. Hunter who was still born; and brother, Felix B. DeMars.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Barry A. (Doreen) Hunter, Sr. of Superior, Gary R. (Julee) Hunter of Superior, Burton F. (Linda) Hunter of Wrenshall, MN, and Gregory (Cathy) Hunter of Superior; brother in arms, Joseph C. (Jodi) Montano of Superior; and 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Myrtle was affiliated with the Auxiliary V.F.W. #10197 and was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church. Before retirement, she worked many years as a CNA. After retirement, she enjoyed serving as a foster grandmother at Four Corners School for 22 years, playing cards, crossword puzzles, and the Green Bay Packers.
Her visitation will be on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Williams Catholic Church in Foxboro. Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Link S., Barry A. Jr., Robert G., Michael J., Jeremy M., and Timothy R. Hunter.
