Nanci Marie Oswskey, 69, of Foxboro, died Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Essentia-St. Mary's Superior, surrounded by her family.

She was born March 20, 1955, in Superior, daughter of Alice (Swonger) and Ernest Smetana, Sr.

On August 25, 1973, at St. Williams Catholic Church, Nanci Marie Smetana and Sidney Eugene Oswskey were united in marriage.

Nanci loved children and caring for them. She was both a childcare professional, mother and homemaker.

One of her greatest hobbies was agate picking and she had quite the collection. She also enjoyed collecting dolls, solving puzzles, reading, arts and crafts, flowers especially yellow roses, collecting nicknacks and stained glass, bowling, playing pool, as well as being at the ball fields cheering on her family.  Her greatest love was being with her grandkids.

Nanci will always be remembered in the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, compassion and beauty.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Sandra; mother-in-law, Dorothy; father-in-law, David; and nephews, Curtis, Daniel, Tim and Greg.

Survivors include her husband of over 51 years, Sidney; children, Jeremy (Jennifer) Oswskey, Superior, Derek Oswskey, Foxboro, and Marissa (Shilo) Rutzen, Foxboro; 9 grandchildren, Ashley, Makenna, Britanee, Jason, Jared, Jayden, Kaylee, Sydney and Carter; 4 siblings, Ernest Jr., Paul, Julie and Richard; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws along with her favorite companion, Chewy.

Visitation will be from 10 until the11 a.m. service, Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N. 34th Street, Superior. Gary Banker will officiate.

The family invites everyone to a luncheon at the funeral home following the service.

The burial will be held at a later date.
