Naomi "Nonie" E. Aakeberg, 85, of Superior, died Friday, March 4, 2011 at St. Francis Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Nonie was born in Superior on November 28, 1925. She graduated from Superior Central High School in June of 1943.

She married Harold Aakeberg on Feb. 15, 1947 and they celebrated 35 years of marriage until his death in 1982.

Nonie enjoyed going shopping, going on walks and watching football. She loved her two cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and brothers, Alois and Burnell.

She is survived by her son Lonnee of Superior; brother, Eleador "Har" (Betty) Vanderport of Milwaukee; and niece and nephews, Craig, Greg, Valerie, Jeffrey and Dennis.

Her funeral service will be held on Thus. Mar. 10, at 11:00 a.m. in the Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave., with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King Church as officiant. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Chris and Cliff Lind, Dave Lindemann, Marty Lightner and Dennis Vanderport.
