Nels Orlo Hursh, 79, of Superior, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born December 27, 1938, in Superior, son of Sylvester Clyde and Evangeline Ruth Amy (Lind) Hursh.

Nels served his country with the Minnesota Air National Guard for 30 years.

In addition to his military service career, Nels worked 30 years for Georgia Pacific as a boiler room operator. Nels also worked as a farmer, raising cows and pigs.

He enjoyed making mini donuts at local festival events. Delivering senior meals was another interest of his.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, with whom he shared a deep love and devotion; sons, Clyde (Patricia) Hursh, Bert (Katy) Hursh, and Robert (Laura) Hursh; daughter, Kathy (Randy) Ronchi; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Sylvester (Irene) Hursh, and Joseph (Linda) Hursh; several nieces and nephews; his children's mother, Donnajean and friend, Mickey; and Carol's 5 sons, Brian, Michael, Patrick, Robert J. and Greg Plunkett and their spouses, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Avenue, Superior. Reverend Luke Oliver will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Nels' grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Poplar Cemetery, Poplar, WI, with military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post 435.
