Obert Charles "Chuck" Bolme, 74, of Poplar, Wis., passed away peacefully in his home Tues., Sept. 16, 2014.
He was born Aug. 10, 1940 to Dorothy M. (Plinski) and Obert G. Bolme in Jamestown, N.D.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dottie Lou; his mother, Dorothy; two sons, Alan (Annette) Bolme and Jon Bolme and their mother, Nancy Ehrman; five siblings, Pat (Jerry) Mullen, Robert (Jan) Bolme, Rick (Coleen) Bolme, Margi (Bob) Moyer, and Joyce (Gary) Johnson; two grandsons, Jon A. Bolme and Derek B. Olson; two step-sons, Dale (Dolly) Loukes and Roger (Penny) Loukes; a step-daughter, Charmaine (George) Radosevich; and many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
In earlier years Chuck was employed at Northwest Paper Mill, Cloquet, Minn., but soon developed a yen for Bar/Grill business and went into business for himself with the purchase of the Curtis Tavern in Cloquet. This was followed by 40 plus years in several such businesses, in the Pattison Park area of Superior, then in Neillsville, Wis. and Dorchester, Wis. where he finally retired in 2008.
Chuck had a fervent passion for deer hunting and purchased a cabin for hunting in 1990, which became his and Dottie's final residence among natures wild life.
Chuck also had a passion for collecting old cars and zealously shared the hobby with his son, Alan, and his step-grandson, Eric.
The family wishes to thank the Essentia Health hospice team for their support and they also wish to express a very special thank you to Shelly, Mike and Jan for the compassionate care they had shown Chuck and his family.
He will be sadly missed by relatives and the many friends that shared his life and hobbies.
A time of visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service on Mon., Sept. 22nd in Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St. Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church will officiate. The committal prayers will be at the Lakeside Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Loukes, Eric Kucharski, George Radosevich III, Josh Sequin, Lance Wuollet and Jon August Bolme.
Downs Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
