Patrick 'Pat'
Flynn
August 10, 1955 – December 22, 2020
Patrick 'Pat' Flynn passed away on December 22, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Superior, Wisconsin on August 10, 1955. He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1973 and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from UWS. He was a teacher, administrator and coach in the Superior School District until his retirement in 2011. He was inducted into the Superior Senior High Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007 as part of the 1974 State Championship Boys Basketball team. He spent many years coaching both youth basketball and baseball.
If you had Mr. Flynn as a teacher or principal, you may remember many of his inspirational quotes, such as:
"Make it a great day or not, the choice is yours."
"The only place you will find success before work is in the dictionary."
"The world owes you a living, but you have to work to collect it."
In retirement Pat and Lori became snowbirds in Orange Beach, Alabama. Pat also enjoyed announcing sporting events on the IFan Sports Network, acting as a volunteer coach for the UWS women's basketball team, RVing, golfing, and riding his recumbent bicycle.
Pat was diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer in March of 2020. With prayers and support from family and friends, he survived longer than expected. His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ gave him extra days with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.
His parents, Joseph and Margaret Flynn, preceded him in death.
