Patsy L. Yadon-Thompson, 77, lifelong Superior resident, died at her residence on Friday, August 7, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 2, 1932 in Superior, daughter of Astrid (Bergren) and Vernon Backlund.
Patsy worked many years in the cafeterias at Superior Central Junior High School and Superior Senior High School, where she was affectionately known as "French Fry Lady".
Some of her interests included crafts, bingo, gardening, camping and fishing.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her children's father, Frederick Yadon; second husband, Ronald Thompson; son, Michael Yadon; brothers, Marvin and Raymond Backlund; and sisters, Carol Jarzomski and Sandy Greely.
Survivors include her daughters, LuAnn (Larry) Olsen, Duluth, Cindy (Curt) Parsons and Tina (Tim) Willie, both of Superior; sons, Thomas Yadon, Daniel (Paulette) Yadon and Robert Yadon, all of Superior; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Vernon "Sonny" Backlund, Dale Backlund and Jimmy (Mary) Backlund, all of Superior; sisters, Diane (Phillip) Allison, Fridley, Minnesota, and Marla Ryan, Superior; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friend, Phyllis; and her dog, "Yorkie".
Visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. service, Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Chaplain Ana Beier will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Backlund, Brian Backlund, Jeffery Yadon, William Parsons, John Rice and Chadd Thompson.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
