Pauline J.
Hanson
April 8, 1921 – July 6, 2021
Pauline J. Hanson, 100, of Superior, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living with her daughter holding her hand.
Born on April 8, 1921, in Mellen, WI, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Mesko)Ellias.
She graduated from Mellen High School in 1939.
During WW II, Pauline worked for the war effort in a Milwaukee munitions factory specializing in explosives.
She married Robert C. Hanson on May 8, 1941. They had 64 years of happy years together before his death in 2005.
Following WWII and years after her daughter's birth in 1945, she worked in sales at several local retailers.
She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, reading, and golf. Being an excellent cook and baker, she made everyone feel welcome into her home and loved the weekly coffee gatherings in her neighborhood.
Marsha's love and unwavering support made it easier for Pauline to face the many challenges that came with aging. During the pandemic when personal visiting was canceled, she came each day with a letter the was given to a caregiver to read to Pauline while they looked through the window at each other. They used nonverbals to express their love for each other and how being apart was so difficult.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Michael and Anna; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Mark) Bergren; sister, Rose Brown, sisters in law, Peggy Ellias and Nancy Ellias, and many nephews and nieces. Also, a very special Rea family; Brad, Angie and their children, Adam, Alex, Austin and Aiden.
The family would like to thank Pauline's caregivers at Cedar Ridge for their wonderful, loving and compassionate care.
Following Pauline's wishes, a private grave side service will be held with Gary Banker officiating.
