Peggy R. Nichols, 65, of Superior, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.

She was born November 15, 1951, in Shell Lake, Wisconsin, daughter of Robert and Leona (Albee) Sexton.

Peggy was a 1988 cum laude graduate of the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth.

Peggy Sexton and Thomas Nichols were united in marriage in 1974.

As a registered nurse, her work history included Douglas County, St. Luke's, and Miller Dwan.

Some of her many interests included the politics, specifically the Douglas County Democratic Party, and her support was continuous for several decades. Peggy also enjoyed helping the National Honor Society at St. Scholastica, knitting, combat scrabble, and tea pot collecting.

Preceding her in death was her father, Robert.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Thomas; sons, John (Susan Knes) Nichols, Madison, WI, Matthew (Jennifer Haugen) Nichols, Spokane, WA, and Daniel (Carolyn Hanson) Nichols, Superior; grandchildren, Gabe, Caleb, Jonah and Brenna; mother, Leona Sexton, Superior; brothers, Steve Sexton (Brian McNeill), Minneapolis, MN, and Kevin Sexton (Peter Rosacker), Newark, Delaware; sister, Sue (Jim) Burt, Port Washington, WI; and nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held July 8th from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Vintage Italian Pizza in Superior, WI.
