Peter L. Jarzomski's Obituary
Peter L. Jarzomski, 74, of Superior, died Friday, January 21, 2011 at Essentia Health, Duluth.
He was born August 7, 1936 in Superior, son of Lucille (Vanderport) and Peter Jarzomski.
Peter served his country in the U.S. Army during the 1950's.
His service to the residents of Superior continued as a firefighter with the Superior Fire Department, retiring in 1988 as captain.
On July 2, 1960, in Superior, Peter L. Jarzomski and Carol M. Backlund were united in marriage. Carol died July 2, 1985.
Pete was a member of the Barnes VFW Post # 8329 and a former member of the Superior Racing Association, where he raced and judged.
Some of his other interests include golfing, bowling and cheering for the Packers, Brewers and Badgers.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Alois Vanderport.
Survivors include his daughter, Shelley (James) Lancour, Barnes, WI; sons, Bradley Jarzomski and Todd Jarzomski, both of Superior; grandchildren, Jamie (David) Dalbec, Travis Jarzomski and Alyssa Jarzomski, all of Superior; and great-granddaughters, Dakota and MacKenzi Dalbec, both of Superior.
Visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. service, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior.
Inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, at a later date.
