Obituary

Randy LeRoy Fitch, 66, a lifelong resident of Superior, WI, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2024, surrounded by his family after a courageous 12-month battle with cancer.

Randy was born on April 9, 1958, in Superior, WI to Sherman Sr. and Barbara (Brown) Fitch.  He was the third of seven children.  Randy met Christine Altman and they went on their first date in 1978 and were married August 30, 1980.  Chris was the love of his life and they had over 45 years of adventures together.

Randy attended plumbing and pipeline school and was a proud member of LIUNA Local 1091 where he spent over 30 years of his career as a hardworking laborer until his retirement in 2014.

He was a great example to us, loving and serving his family.  Randy was the proud father of three daughters, Jennifer, Holly, and Lindsey.  He enjoyed watching or coaching his daughter's basketball teams, he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved watching all his grandkids sporting events. Randy's home away from home was in Earl, WI, fishing, boating, and sitting by the campfire with family and friends.  When he was not there, you could find him enjoying the casino, hunting, or traveling all over the United States and Mexico.

Randy and Chris were able to enjoy this past winter in Arizona, that he described as 'an adventure of a lifetime.'  He will be remembered for his one liners, his sense of humor, as Mr. Fix It and weather extraordinaire, dedication to his family, and for being adventurous.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Sr., and Barbara (Brown) Fitch; his sister Starr Verran; his mother in-law, Linda Altman; son in-law, Dustin Stebbins; his great-niece, Hailey Eastman, and brother in-law, Donald Christianson.

Left to mourn his loss are his devoted wife, Christine who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. Their bond was one of unbreakable love and companionship.  His daughters, Jennifer (Chris) Franke, Holly (Chad) Izzard, and Lindsey (Brandon) Thorsness; grandchildren, Dylan, Zach, Julia, Caiden, Cullen, Ava, Hudson, McKenna; bonus grands, Ellie and Ashley; his siblings, Sherman (Barbara) Fitch, Sherrie Christianson, Trina (Bob) Eastman, Lisa (Greg) Picard, Duane (Katherine) Fitch; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Dave) Manley, Susan (Richard) Backlund, Ann (Dave) Altman; father in-law, Richard Altman, brother in-law, Chet Verran; 21 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, besties and traveling companions, Mark and Sandy Fulda, and special pet companions Misty and Bella, all who he loved dearly.

The family would like to express words of gratitude to all the caregivers at Moments Hospice for their compassionate care.

Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Dylan, Zach, Caiden, Cullen, and Hudson.
