Raymond J. Westrud, 94, of Superior and formerly of Bennett, died Sunday. January 9, 2022, at Twin Ports Health Services, Superior.

He was born July 17, 1927, in Minnesota, son of Ludwig and Elizabeth (Schiesser) Westrud.

During WWII Ray served his country with the U.S. Army.

Ray worked as a farmer and heavy equipment operator. He really enjoyed his time on the farm in Bennett and his property in the Town of Parkland.

Survivors include his nephew, Peter Gamache; nieces, Rose Kidd and Mary Lou Spicer; and 10 other nieces and nephews.

Burial with military honors will be held at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI.

A celebration of Ray's life will be held at a later date.
