Raymond Kiminski, 86, Superior, WI passed away Friday, September 29, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and his faithful dog Bridgette.
Ray was born February 12, 1931 in Denham, MN to Martin and Rose Kiminski.
In 1951 at 20 years of age Ray joined the Marine Corps and proudly served his country for 3 years.
On January 5th, 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Rose Martichuski.
Ray retired at the age of 62 after working many years for A. Kemp Fisheries where he spent several seasons in Alaska on the fish processing boat The Bering Trader along with his wife Rosie.
Ray was a devoted husband and father, a wonderful grandfather, and he never met a person he didn't call his friend. He loved all animals big and small and made sure his wild, feathered and furry friends were WELL fed. Ray loved to be outdoors cutting and splitting his own firewood, hunting, and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends playing cards, sharing cocktails, and making memories at his beloved cabin in Solon Springs, WI.
Ray is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years Rosie; parents Martin and Rose; brothers Louie, Valentine, and Albert; sisters Josephine, Mary, Rosie, Margaret, and Vicki; and son-in-law Rick Browen.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Burt) Hunter of Wrenshall, MN, Monica Browen of Superior, WI, John (Jen) Kiminski of Superior, WI, Tom (Darla) Kiminski of Missouri Valley, IA; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline and Barbara; brother, Jacob; and dear friend, Lena Moretto.
Ray will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and his beloved cabin won't be the same without him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th Street. Visitation will resume on Thursday Oct. 5 from 10 until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Assumption Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci as Celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Pallbearers will be Tom Kiminski, Mike Hunter, Jeremy Browen, Eric Eliason, Tim Hunter, Nicholas Kiminski, and Jordan Roerick.
