Raymond C. Moen, 75, passed away Sept. 29, 2012, at Essentia Health Hospice Center.Ray was born in Superior, Wis. on June 23, 1937.
Ray was a graduate of Central High School in Superior and attended the University of Superior earning a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
He worked for Great Northern Railroad, was a longshoreman and crane operator and longtime member of the International Longshoreman's Association. Ray worked as a logger, owned and operated Moen Trucking as well as Ray's Bar in downtown Pattison Park for 38 years. He was a Certified Soil Tester for the state of Wisconsin and skilled operator of a variety of equipment which he especially enjoyed using to assist those in need.
Ray was a compassionate and caring person, a loving father and grandfather who lived life to the fullest, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Colbien and Sadie Moen; brother, Donald Moen; infant son, Mark Anthony; and mother of children, Alice.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Phyllis; children, Guy (Dawn), Steve, Kim, Brad, Kelli (Dale) Hashey, and Patrick; step-children Kim Scott, Jeff Scott and Pam (Brian) Zitelman; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, twin great-grandchildren on the way; brothers Lloyd (Rosemarie) Moen of Reno, Nev., David (Terri) Moen of Burnsville, Minn., and Ken (Peggy) Moen of Foxboro, Wis., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday Oct. 3rd at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N, 19th St., Superior. There will be a luncheon at Superior Town Hall, 4917 South Highway 35 immediately thereafter.
