Obituary

Reuben D. Johnson, 94, of Superior, died Tuesday July 9, 2013 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Reuben was born on Dec. 1, 1918 the son of David and Hannah Johnson.

He served his country during WWII in the Army and served in the European, Asiatic and Pacific theaters earning 3 bronze battle stars.

Reuben owned and operated Advance Sign Company for many years. He was a 65 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He was a prolific writer of essays and a wonderful friend to many people.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene; and a foster daughter, Damita "Tracy" Fedyn; and his beloved wife, Violet Lucille.

He is survived by his sister, LaVerne Larson of Dallas, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Dave (Dorothy) Johnson of Amnicon Lake; two sisters-in-law, Doris (Orval) Chalman of Duluth and Dorothy Locken of Clarkston, Wash; and Tracy's husband, Tony. He was grandpa to Tracy's children, Torrey, Tarrah, Tessa, Tallon and Tianna and great-grandpa to their children. He will be loved and missed by his many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Fri. July 12th at 11:00 at the Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th and Ogden Ave. Rev. Lincoln T. Fry of the Apostolic Faith Assembly will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Villa Marina, St. Luke's Hospital and St. Luke's Hospice for their wonderful care of Reuben.
