Richard Kenneth Berg, 85, of Superior, WI died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at View Crest Nursing Home in Duluth, MN.

Richard was born June 1, 1938, to Kenneth and Helen (Witt) Berg in Superior, WI.

He was a US Air Force veteran and was employed with the US Postal Service until his retirement.

Richard was a member of the Acacia-Itasca Lodge #329 F. & A.M. and was active with the Aad Shrine. He enjoyed playing his trumpet in the drum and bugle corps during many parades and events over the years.

Richard walked two miles each day well into his 80's, he enjoyed watching hockey games especially UWS and always loved to socialize. He enjoyed working on puzzles and volunteering at Superior Memorial Hospital.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret.

Survivors include his children, Scott Berg, and Sherrie Brannen; his sister, Arlene (Al) Knase; his granddaughters, Megan (Justin) Cannon, Abigail Berg, Hannah Berg, and Alexa Brannen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St., Superior. Military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435. Rev. Sean Koos will be officiating.
