Richard "Dick" Lee Dagen, Sr., 89, of Superior, died Monday February 28, 2011 at his residence.
Dick was born on Sept. 26, 1921 in Donaldson, Minn. the son of Ida (Lehman) and Clarence Dagen.
He married the former Adele June Holmberg in 1943 and celebrated 61 years of marriage until her passing on June 25, 2004.
He served his country in the Navy during WWII.
Dick was a Journeyman Structural Ironworker and worked for Lakehead Construction for 25 years. He was a member of the Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Local #563 Duluth, Minn.
He was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed doing carpentry, building houses and furniture. He enjoyed restoring cars and drove his red Corvette up until the last five months and also enjoyed flying his airplane. He loved to travel, and had traveled extensively in the United States and many parts of the World.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adele; son, Richard L. Dagen, Jr.; and a brother, James Dagen.
He is survived by his two daughters, Claudia Dagen of Superior and Judith (Rollin) Larson of Port Wing; eight grandchildren, Heidi Bonneville, Cory (Maryann) Bonneville and Sarah (Bryan) Denninger all of Superior, Timothy Larson of Port Wing, Wis., Michael (Dana) Dagen of St. Louis, Mo., Keith Dagen of Arizona, Brittany Dagen of Missouri and Lisa Dagen of Arizona; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Swanson and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Thurs. Mar. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the Downs Funeral Home. Pastor Nancy Hanson of First Lutheran Church in Port Wing will officiate. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Cory Bonneville, Bryan, Luke and Hannah Denninger, Marquise and Chanel Oates, Tim Larson and Michael and Keith Dagen.
