Obituary

Richard L. Katzmark, 72, lifelong resident of Superior, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Richard was born on April 6, 1941 the son of Steve and Mary Katzmark.

Rick served his country during four tours of duty in the Viet Nam War with the US Army.

He was a government certified welder and worked for several local companies. He was also the former owner of R & J Sunnyside Sausage.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. Most important to him was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Steve J. Katzmark.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy; children, Debbie Katzmark of Superior, Jennifer (Chad) Sisko of South Range, Jonathan Katzmark of Superior and Scott, Cheryl, Michael and Theresa Katzmark; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward (Kathy) Katzmark of Superior; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Katzmark of Superior; several nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Biz Magdzas.

His memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 13th at 11:00 am at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Garnatz and Pastor Darrell Kyle officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the St. Luke's Hospital Nurses on 5th floor, ICU unit and 2nd floor Hospice and also to Dr. Hemenway for all their care and support.

If desired, memorials in Rick's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th and Ogden, is assisting the family with arrangements.
