Richard A. Pearson, 80, of Mendota Heights, MN, died at his cabin in Gordon, WI, on August 25, 2026.

He was born in Duluth on June 17, 1946, to Roy and Dorothy (MacIver) Pearson. Richard was a 1964 graduate of Duluth East High School. He graduated in1968 with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Macalester College, where he was on the golf and ice hockey teams. He continued his education at the University of St. Thomas, receiving his master’s degree in business in 1982.

Richard served in the U.S Navy from 1968 – 1974 as a supply officer ending his Navy career as Assistant Officer in charge at the U.S. Navy Commissary Stores, Taiwan. He was employed by the Gillette Company in the St. Paul Manufacturing Center from 1974 to 2000.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed golfing, traveling, and reading. He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying hockey. In retirement he and Peggy enjoyed 18 winters living on Dove Mountain near Tucson, AZ and spent their summers at Whitefish Lake in Gordon, WI.

Richard was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, VFW and the American Legion.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy; brother, Thomas Pearson; sisters in law, Kathy Pearson and Alice Morton Morris; and parents in law, Raymond and Betty (Morton) Melhus.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Morton - Pearson; nieces Heather Baron and Maren Hoyer; and many cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, September 18, 2026, 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 am Memorial Service at Hope Presbyterian Church, 7132 Portland Ave, Richfield MN, 55423 with a luncheon to follow. Service may be viewed online by going to YouTube and searching Hope Presbyterian Church Richfield MN and clicking the live tab on the day of the service.

Military honors and inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on October 22, 2026, at 11:00 am.
