Richard “Rick” D. Mikrot, Sr., age 66, of South Range, died Wednesday September 23, 2026, at Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center Duluth, surrounded by his family after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rick was born on September 2, 1960, to Helen (Laine) and Isadore Mikrot in Superior. He would marry Terri Lynn Miller on May 17, 1980. Rick became involved in logging from the age of 17, owning and operating Mikrot Logging. He enjoyed hunting and riding ATV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Andy in 2017; his sisters Jeanne Greely and Joanne Osterlund; also, by his niece Jessica Greely.

Rick is lovingly survived by his wife Terri; Children Richard Mikrot, Jr., Phillip (Kelly) Mikrot and Thomas (Randi) Mikrot all of South Range, Angela (Joe Goettl) Mikrot of Solon Springs; his grandchildren Phillip, Patrick, Riker and Lee Mikrot, Taylor Johnstad; his brother Mike (Jackie) Mikrot of South Range; also, by nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held on October 24, 2026 from 12:00 – 5:00 pm at the Oakland Town Hall, 6152 S County Rd K, South Range.
