Richard "Dick" Stephen Plasch, Sr. Our dear dad passed away Tuesday, April 10 2012, with family by his side, in his home on the Minong Flowage that he shared with his daughter and son-in-law. He lost his fight to cancer after a courageous yearlong battle at the age of 81.
Dick was born in St. Paul, MN on June 14, 1930 to Emma & Stephen. He was one of six boys. His father passed away when he was only nine, leaving his mother a single parent.
His family moved to Superior when he was very young. He graduated from Central High School and married his sweetheart, Gloria Teenquist. They had two children and remained living in Superior, while spending summers at their cabin, on Dowling Lake.
Dick worked 41 years in the beer business as both a driver and salesman for Northern Brewery, Matthew's Distributing, and ended his career working for Northwest Beverage. He enjoyed his job and the many business owners he met over the years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Eagles, for more than 25 years.
After retirement Dick started spending half the year in Apache Junction, AZ and the other half living in Wascott.
Family was most important to Dick and he was active in his children's and grand children's lives. He was so proud of their accomplishments.
Dick enjoyed bowling, golfing, swimming, playing gin, and working in his large vegetable garden. Listening to old time music, especially polkas was a must.
June 14 was a celebration each year as he and his son Richard (Rick) shared the same birthday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria (1983) and brothers Robert & Stephen.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Carol (Robert) Callery; son, Richard (Maria) Plasch, Jr.; brothers, Clifford (Jan) of Chippewa Falls, Donald (Jean) of Kirkland Wash., and Kenneth of Astoria, Ore.; grandchildren, Heather Callery, Christy (Kyle) Severin, Cara, Troy, Chad (Kryssi) and Eric Plasch, and Rico and Jeanna Mace; great-grandchildren, Kendall Callery, Brayden and Bower Severin, Keegan and Hattie, Tayva and Tieryn, and Sydney Plasch, Colton Simonson, and Dominik Mace; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews and special friend Lorraine Karling, with whom he shared many wonderful memories.

April 17, from Noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Patrick Ziems will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
