Robert George Janicki, 81, of Superior, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
He was born on April 9, 1934 to Hilda B. (Mecvald) and George Martin Janicki.
Following his high school graduation, he became a member of the Mortar Co. 32nd Division of the U.S. Army National Guard in Superior, for 8 years. He attended UWS for pre-mortuary science courses and graduated from the former Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. He worked as a funeral director for Downs Funeral Home, Inc. for many years. After retirement, he was employed by Pederson Gardens and Landscape, Swanstrom Tools USA, and Fleming Co. Specialty Foods Division.
Bob was a member of several organizations throughout his life. He was a past president of the northern district of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, former member of W.F.D.A., Jaycees Boss of the Year in 1981, and a current member of the Acacia-Itasca Lodge #329 F&AM.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim (Alan) Olson; sons, Robert (Laura) 'Rob' Janicki and Thomas (Nancy) 'Tom' Janicki, all of Superior; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delores Mae.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, December 12th, at 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Masonic funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior.
Committal prayers will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
