Robert Lee Miller, 78, of Superior, died Wednesday June 9, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice, Duluth.
He was born September 23, 1931, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, son of Francis and Elizabeth (Eckhart) Miller.
Robert was a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
His work history included Udeen Trucking and owner of Rebel Trucking.
On June 6, 1963, in Charleston, West Virginia, Robert L. Miller and Joan A. Williams were united in marriage. Robert and Joan were together for over 50 years.
Robert was a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge, Aad Temple of the Shrine, and a life member of Disabled American Veterans.
He enjoyed gunsmithing, working on his cars and trucks, baseball, softball, gardening and cooking.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; sons, Dean (Wendy) Miller, Superior, Mark (Lynda) Miller, Superior, and Kenneth (Becky) Miller, Lake Nebagamon; daughter, Terri Lynn (Richard) Mikrot, South Range; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Miller, and Ronnie Miller, St. Albans, West Virginia; sister, Elizabeth Wallace, Winston-Salem, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and his very special canine friend, Odie.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Chaplain Gary Meller officiating.
Following the service, everyone is invited to a luncheon at Darrow Road Wesleyan Church. After the luncheon, the committal service will be held at Parkview Cemetery, Hawthorne, with military rites accorded by the Superior Combined Color Guard.
Active pallbearers will be Phil Mikrot, Tommy Mikrot, Scott Carlson, Cody Miller, Marty Jezierski and Nate Johnstad. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Stolzman, Gary Evenstad, Terry Johnson, Rusty Levine and Bill Jones.
