Robert E. Potter, 86, of Superior, Wis. died Sunday, March 6, 2011 in Villa Marina Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born February 22, 1925 in Superior, Wis. and was a lifelong resident.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during WWII.
Bob started on the Superior Police Dept. September 18, 1950 and retired as a Detective on his 55th birthday, February 22, 1980.
He enjoyed racing, spending time at the family cabin at Lyman Lake and boating. He loved gardening. He also enjoyed singing country western songs on Karaoke and bowling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lois Jane Hoff; a son, Robert E. Potter, Jr.; and a daughter, Tammy Stolzman.
He is survived by his children; Cheri (Mike) Campy and Ron (Diane) Potter of South Range, Wis., Mary Lou (Dale) Johnson of Oliver, Wis., Bonnie (Gary) Hahn and Cathi (Chuck) McLean of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Gary Potter of Superior; a daughter-in-law, Lottie Potter of Superior; a son-in-law, Alan Stolzman of Robertsville, Mo.; and fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St. with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson of Holy Assumption Catholic Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with the Superior Police Dept. Honor Guard present. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 235.
Pallbearers will be Lisa Campy, Kelly Vig, Tim and Jamie Johnsen, Becki Stradtman and Suzi Olson.
