Roger D. Smith, 65, of Poplar, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital following a battle with cancer.

Roger was born in Superior on April 27, 1956 the son of Eugene and Elma Smith.

He owned and operated Middle River Tavern for many years.

Roger was very active in sports and still holds records at Northwestern and UW Superior in Track and Field. He enjoyed playing softball, shooting pool, and watching basketball and football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He also had a passion for motorcycling.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Elma; and son, David Smith.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Elyssa Smith; granddaughter, Eilie Smith; siblings, Janice (Al) Lerouxe, Jeanie Greenwald, Judy Weslowski, Ronald Smith and Shirley Knutson; longtime friend, Dave 'Moon' Martin; his dog, Hoss; special friend, Grace Line; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29 ^th from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 funeral service at Mission Covenant Church, 5161 S County Road P, Poplar, WI 54864. Rev. Darrell Nelson will officiate.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hawthorne.
