Roland 'Andy' R. Anderson Jr.

(January 30, 1928 – December 9, 2021)

"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

1 Corinthians 2:9

Roland Roy Anderson Jr., 93, of South Range, WI, known to his family and friends as Andy, passed away peacefully of old age while at his Lyman Lake home in South Range, Wisconsin.

Andy was born on January 30, 1928 in Superior, WI the son of Roland Sr. and Hilda (Sell) Anderson.

He married Kathleen 'Kay' Curtiss on Jan. 28, 1956 at Christ Lutheran Church in Superior.  Andy and Kay had an incredible bond that spanned all aspects of their lives together.  They were partners in running the business, raising the family, and enjoying life until Kay's passing in 2018.

Andy was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.  He was instrumental in helping to construct and maintain the new church building, worked at the annual pasty bake and became close friends with long-time pastor Gerry Presuhn.

Andy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He took great pleasure in family gatherings at his cabin/home on Lyman Lake.  He earned the nickname "Handy Andy" as he enjoyed helping family and friends with home improvement and mechanical needs.  Whenever asked how he was doing, Andy was quick to answer "Wonderful!" and his family and friends have certainly been wonderfully blessed by the kind and gracious presence of having Andy in their lives.

Andy and his longtime business partner and friend, Roy Aspdahl, owned and operated Superior Auto Parts and Great Lakes Auto Parts which allowed him to establish countless friendships as he doubled as an "outside salesman" calling on gas stations and garages throughout Superior and across Northern Wisconsin.

Andy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the deepening of friendships that came with outdoor adventures even more than the sport of hunting and fishing itself.  He always gave priority to ensuring that others were well fed and well positioned to be successful at bagging a deer, pheasant or trout.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, Andy was preceded in death by his parents and sister.  He is survived by his children Jean (Jay) Anderson of Kansas City, MO, Roy (Jackie) Anderson of Chanhassen, MN, Mary Kay (Kevin) Cambronne of New Brighton, MN, and Beth (Bill) Flynn of South Range, WI; grandchildren, Lisa (Pat) Riggle, Christine (Jake) Ayers, Ryan (Jeanne) Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Jessica Cambronne, Martin Cambronne, David (Amanda) Flynn, Kyle Leuthner, Taylor (Hayley) Leuthner; great-grandchild, Toretto Flynn and Clyde Lyman Ayers, and many nieces and nephews.

We are so thankful for the care he received from Essentia Home Health Hospice and Helping Hands during his brief time in hospice.   We are especially grateful for the loving and faithful caregivers that brightened his days over the past few months.

We thank God for Andy and will cherish his memory.

Services will be private with burial at Christ Lutheran Church (Superior, WI).  We would love to collect your stories and memories of Andy which you can share at the online guestbook by visiting www.downsfh.com .
