Rolland K. "Rollie" Piper, 86, of Superior, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.

Rollie was born August 5, 1927, in Superior, son of Raymond and Edna (Koch) Piper.

As a boy, Rollie was a local marble champion. He went to work full-time at Kari Garage in 1942, while completing his high school requirements at night and attending Superior Vocational School. He completed his auto body apprenticeship during his years at Kari's. In 1965 he opened Piper's Auto Body and was the owner and operator until his retirement in 1988.

For many years, Rollie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping with the church pastie sale. He was also a member of the Superior Moose Club and a former member of the Superior Elks.

He devoted many years to helping people with special needs. Another interest of his was traveling.

On October 23, 2013, Rollie and Adair celebrated their 42 ^nd wedding anniversary.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, of 23 years, JoAnn, in 1969; son, Kenneth; grandson, David; brothers, Robert and Raymond; and sisters, Dorothy, Gertrude and Jeannette.

Survivors include his wife, Adair; children, Michael (Paula) Piper, Linda (Don) Ford, Nancy (Robert) Price, and Cathy Piper; step-children Cynthia (James) Johnstone, Nancy (Dennis) Visger, and Susan Blegen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, Friday, March 28, 2014, at Christ Lutheran Church, 320 N. 28 ^th Street East, Superior.  Reverend David Schoessow will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, at a later date.
