Ronald P. Nichols, 80, of Solon Springs, Wis. died Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Essentia-St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, Minn.
He was born January 11, 1934 in Duluth to Earl G. and Jennie M. (Fortin) Nichols.
Ronald served his country in the United States Marine Corp.
He had been employed as a baker for the Taystee Bread Co. for over thirty years. After his retirement he was employed as a security guard for several years.
Ronald was a member of the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post No. 499 in Gordon, Wis.
He is survived by his wife Lea; a son, Tony Nichols of Bemidji Minn.; a granddaughter, Darlene; a sister, Jean Kessler of Antigo, Wis.; four step-children, Jeff (Brenda) Roy of Tacoma, Wash., Cora (Mark) Liebaert of South Range, Wis., Darryl (Diana) Roy of South Range, and Danny (Shelly) Roy of Sacramento Calif.; and many step-grandchildren.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435 on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Veterans Memorial Park, Greenwood Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Solon Springs Community Center.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
