Ronald E. Salo, 77, of Superior died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Ronald was born January 25, 1948, the son of Eino Salo and Dorothy Mae (Salo) Talley in Superior. He served his country in the United States Army in Bamberg, Germany. He also sailed the Great Lakes with the Kinsman Marine Transit Company. He was then employed by Fleming Foods and retired after 28 years. He had a great sense of humor. He was a practical joker who loved to make people laugh. Ron enjoyed watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. He loved playing smear, cribbage and competing in cribbage tournaments. He enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly on their many camping trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jack Salo and Nick Moran, and his grandson, Luke Mackie.

Ronald is survived by his wife Darla Salo (Love), who was the love of his life; daughters, Stacy (Brian) Mackie of Superior, Rhonda Salo of Green Bay, son Scott Salo of Superior, and stepdaughter Vanessa (Eric) Glindinning of Onalaska; grandchildren, Stephanie Mackie, Scott Salo, Jr., Tyler Salo, Austin Salo, Franki (Steven) Christman, and Sean Glindinning; 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Jean Darlene Sloan of Superior, Penny (Larry) Mangrum of Mesa, AZ, Karey Delgado of Tampa, FL, Gaynette (Steve) Wankewycz of Carol Stream, IL, Robert (Marilyn) Tillman of McHenry, IL, Steven Moran of Nabarre, FL, Teresita Nault of Sutherland, IA, and Richard (Nancy) Salo of Montello, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be having food and a celebration of life for Ron at Mike's Place, 1807 N 11th Street in Superior on Tuesday, Jan 27 at 4:00 p.m. All friends and family are welcome.
