Doctor Ronald Andrew Warcholak, beloved husband, father, grandfather, doctor, musician, scholar, patriot, died suddenly but peacefully on September 1, 2019, at his home in Superior, Wisconsin. He was 78 years old.
On February 19, 1941, Ronald was born into a Ukrainian-American family in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Oliver High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Later he attended Thiel College and graduated from the Ohio School of Podiatric Medicine, Southern Illinois University, and Pepperdine University.
During his nearly 40-year career as a podiatrist, Ronald positively affected thousands of patients first in private practice in Pittsburgh, then on active duty in the U.S. Navy at various locations before returning to private practice in 1984, when Ronald and his family moved to Superior. Ronald also practiced at the Superior Memorial Hospital, the Mariner Medical Clinic, and Saint Luke's Hospital.
In 1996, Ronald retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve in the rank of Commander (O-5) with over 23 years of combined active duty and reserve service.
Ronald enjoyed book collecting, reading history and classical literature, martial arts, playing the saxophone and clarinet, meditation, travel, and socializing with friends. He engaged in a lifelong pursuit of learning and self-improvement.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, LueAnn Warcholak (née) Stoops, his two sons, Brett and Brian Warcholak, his daughter-in-law, Nathalie David-Warcholak, and two grandchildren, Thomas and Henry.
Visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, Friday, September 13, 2019, at the Downs Funeral Home, 1617 North 19th Street, Superior, followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 pm.
Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
