Rose Z. Willie, 91, lifelong resident of Superior died Sunday May 17, 2015 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.
Rose was born in Iron River, MI on Feb. 21, 1924 the daughter of Dave and Marie Dumas. She married the love of her life, Thomas L. Willie, on Aug. 23, 1942.
Rose raised her large family and then at 40 years old she went for LPN training and worked for 34 years as a nurse. She worked at Superior Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital in Superior. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time at the cabin. Most important to her was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas in 1973; a daughter, Jacqueline Lehman in 2008; and a son-in-law, Jack Casper in 2008.
She is survived by her children, Patricia (Leo) Sibila of Danbury, Elizabeth (Larry) Emberson of Danbury, Louis Willie of Superior, Kathleen Casper of Superior, Thomas (Pam) Willie of Danbury, Jeffrey (Kathy) Willie of Superior, Robert (Leta) Willie of Dodgeville, WI, and Timothy (Tina) Willie of Superior; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thurs. May 21 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Fr. Ronald Olson of Holy Assumption will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
