With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roy John Berger, also known to many as Uncle Booger, at the young age of 30. Roy was taken away way too soon in a tragic incident while on his motorcycle on August 20, 2026, near Walker, MN.

Roy was born October 13, 1995 in Chisago City, MN to Beverly (Brown) and Gregg Berger. Starting at a young age, he showed a passion for riding his 4-wheeler, snowmobile, or wrecking his bicycle doing some new trick he would eventually perfect. Later in life, this passion transitioned to s love of drag racing.

He attended Chisago Lakes High School for grades K-11 before completing his senior year at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He earned both college and high school credits for his final year of high school and still graduated with honors. He then continued his college career at UMD and graduated with a bachelor of science degree.

Roy worked for Johnson Controls as a Control Systems Technician, where he was able to use his passion for problem-solving and learning to advise customers and resolve HVAC issues.

Outside of work, Roy loved watching drag racing with his dad. This shared passion, which started in his childhood, led to hours of watching on the TV or traveling to various racetracks to watch in person.

When Roy wasn’t working or watching races, the outdoors is where he found peace. Whether it was taking the motorcycle or snowmobile for a ride, hunting, or fishing after work, Roy found a way to stay outside no matter the season. He especially enjoyed spending time at his property on Oulu township, Wisconsin.

Roy was preceded in death by his grandparents, his uncle, Reid, and his cousin, Elayna Armstrong.

He is survived by his parents, Gregg Berger, and Beverly (Brown) Berger; his sister, Tanya (Rick) Waldoch; his brothers, Gregg Berger and Jason Berger; his two nieces and three nephews; his pit bull daughter, Pinky; and many more great family members and friends. He is deeply missed already but will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 19th, 2026, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at The Junk Yard Bar, 3784 Shrider Road, Shell Lake, WI.
