Roy T. Meronek, 79, lifelong resident of Superior, died Monday, December 13, 2021, at Marywood Assisted Living in Duluth.

Roy was born in Superior on Feb. 11, 1942, the son of Stanley Meronek and Mary Jane (Talcott) Gustafson.

He graduated from Superior Central High School with the class of 1960. He served his country in the US Army. Roy married Donna Anderson on July 19, 1968, and they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Roy had worked as a gas appliance repairman for SWL&P. He and Donna owned and operated Meronek's Photography for 47 years.

Roy was a Master Photographer and was a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Indianhead Photography Association where he also served on the board of directors, and the Arrowhead Photographers Association.

He enjoyed fishing, watching trains, and most of all Roy enjoyed life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jeffrey Keehn; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, June and Edward O'Brien.

Roy is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Laura Keehn of Eagan, MN and Brian Meronek of Superior; grandchildren, Tanner Keehn and Aidan Meronek; sister, Mary Janet Hensley of South Range; a niece, Cheri Hensley; and several cousins.

A private family service will be held at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. A public celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
