Obituary

Roy C. Nelson, 95, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 3, 2015.

He was born on January 3, 1920 in Superior, WI and was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior. Roy attended Blaine Elementary School and graduated from Central High School in 1938.

He started his career with Newman Automotive and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in Sept. 1941. He served throughout WWII in the South Pacific. Roy participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal and in liberating the airfield at Munda in New Georgia earning the Bronze Star.

After returning from the war, he married the love of his life, Virginia Curtiss also of Superior. They raised four children, Dinnie (Herb) Martinson, Nancy (Bob) Clark, Linda (John) Conkright, and Paul (Eva) Nelson. Roy & Virginia were blessed with many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.

Roy was employed at Larson Chevrolet in Superior until his retirement in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thure and Alma (Anderson) Nelson and his wife Virginia (Curtiss) Nelson.

His subtle humor and kind personality will be truly missed.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at a future date.
