Obituary

Ruby Luella (Strohman) Beetcher, age 90, resident of Superior, died on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Villa Marina Health & Rehab surrounded by family.

Ruby was born on January 21, 1923 to Catherine "Katy" and Arthur "Maurice" Strohman at the family farmhouse in Gordon, Wisconsin.

Ruby was a hard worker, assisting with farm chores and was also a talented student, graduating from Gordon High School with a full scholarship to college. Ruby gave up that scholarship and instead chose the career of wife and mother. She wed Elmer "Butch" Beetcher on November 15, 1941. Ruby and Butch had eight children.

In addition to being wife and mother, Ruby also was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital. She later worked for Douglas County Social Services as a Homemaker. Ruby's baking, sewing and artistic talents, as well as her appreciation of music, were shared with her family, friends and relatives. All who knew her were blessed by her exceptional logic, common sense, and incredible wit.

Ruby is survived by her eight children, Jeanne (Wayne) Stiffler, Salem, OR, Judy (Dale) Johnson, Sturgeon Lake, MN, Robert (Sandra) Beetcher, Raleigh, NC, Beverly (James) Saranpaa, Virginia/Orr, MN, Linda (Richard) Anderson, Duluth, MN, Nancy (John) Rago, Baraboo, WI, Thomas (Nancy) Beetcher, Superior, WI, and Janice Cox, Superior, WI. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elmer, parents, Catherine and Arthur "Maurice" Strohman, three sisters, Beatrice Pearson, Lucille Dumont and Bernice Strohman, and two brothers, Maurice and Richard Strohman.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Schoessow will officiate. Interment will take place in Nemadji Cemetery of Superior.

Pallbearers will be, Stuart Tribbey, Todd Anderson, Matthew Beetcher, Angeline Atkins, Barbara Thompson and Genevieve Cox.

Memorials in her name may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
