Ruie Ann Carlson, 90, of Superior, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family.

Ruie was born in Superior on September 3, 1936, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Blaisdell) Stalvig.

She married Ludwig Carlson Jr. on September 6th, 1952, in Superior. Together they had seven children.

Ruie often cared for the children in the neighborhood as well as her own family. She loved her grandchildren, as each one was special to her. Being around her grandchildren and children she cared for brought joy to her days and created a community in her neighborhood.

She had several different jobs through her lifetime. She loved working at Gambles, South End Drug as well as being the neighborhood Avon Lady for many years. Later on, she volunteered as the treasurer of the Presbyterian Women’s group. Through her work she gained even more friends within the community and at Country Peace Presbyterian Church. Ruie’s door was always open for visitors. If you stopped by, you would always be welcomed to join her for a cup of coffee and she would share her various baked goods and sweet treats with you. She enjoyed her large garden and sharing the fruits of the season with family and friends. Her favorite past-time was playing cards with anyone willing to take on the challenge. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and working on puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ludwig “Bud”, daughter; LuAnn Carlson, son-in-law; Carey Malec, sisters; Marge Clark, and Kathleen Kimmes, and brother, Roger Stalvig.

Ruie is survived by her children; Cindy Theien, Richard (Johnna) Carlson, Cathy Malec, Ludwig (Bud) Carlson III, Linda Carlson and Sheri Carlson, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, her sister, Barbara Aunet and her best friend “Pixie” (Bud’s pug).

A visitation will be held Friday September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00m p.m. funeral service at Country Peace Presbyterian Church, 4694 County Rd A, Superior, WI, with Pastor Lindsay Biddle officiating.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
