Russell E. Tuura, 74, South Range, Wis., died Thurs. Dec. 7, 2021. Born March 4, 1947 to Eugene H. Tuura and Genevieve C. (Alexson) Tuura, he was a lifelong resident of the Northland area and a friend to all. He was known for his crafts and "BirchWorks", his love of hunting and fishing and dedication to his fellowman. He was an avid Packer fan and was always there to lend a helping hand. But his greatest treasure was his love of family and his fierce devotion to them. So, to anyone that has ever known him and loved him, in his passing, he says "Kana Paksa".
He is survived by: Wife, Millie Tuura, South Range WI, Children: Jason (Jenn) Tuura, Hendersonville NC, Colleen (John Wicklund) Tuura, Superior WI, Erikka (Willard) Bergsten, Poplar WI, Amanda (Mustaf) Krasnici, Peoria IL, Mary (Joe) Jereczek, Seattle WA, Nicole (Josh) Horeck, Winona MN, Jason (Amy) Nutter, South Range WI, Travis (Kasey) Chapman, Iron River WI, Derek Chapman, South Range WI. Siblings: Randy (Shirley) Tuura, Maple WI, Steven (Shannon) Tuura , South Range WI, Leroy (Corrine) Landin, South Range, WI, Susan Landin-Drobot (Chris Billmaier), Boulder City NV, Janice Landin, Ladysmith WI, Kathy (Skip) Smetana, Danbury WI, Sandra (Timothy) Williams South Range WI, and Shari Landin (Robert Johnson) Bruce WI. He was proud 'PapaBear' to 28 grandchildren. Close family members: Uncle Dickie & Aunt Barbara, Aunt MaryAnn, Cousins John Oslund, Richard Lowney, Caroline Korhonen , all the 'Tuura cousins', and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Genevieve Tuura, Gail Tuura; former wife, Marlys A. Tuura; brother, Leonard Landin; and cousins, Ken & Ron Tuura.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Dec. 18th from 10am- Noon at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th St., Superior WI. Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
