Ruth E. Barber, 98, of Superior, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Encompass Health in Superior.

Ruth was born in Proctor, MN on August 10, 1920, the daughter of Floyd and Evelyn Ecklund.

She had worked as a cook for many years for Lutheran Social Services at the Bethany Crisis Shelter and she also worked at Avionics in Duluth, MN for many years.  She was as avid football and baseball fan and loved to watch her Minnesota Viking and Minnesota Twins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Delores Mendibles; and granddaughter, Cassie Kennelly.

Ruth is survived by her children, Carol (John 'Jack') Polson, Dennis (Judy) Barber, and Tom (Marge) Barber; grandchildren, Randy (Wendy) Polson, Jeff (Christine) Polson, Lori (Rod) Loining, Duane (Jennifer) Polson, Lisa (Rick) Kennelly, Tiffany (Adam) Maxey, Tom (Tina) Barber, Adam Barber, Andrea Barber, Clay (Jody) Ford and Mike McCann; and 20 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th Street, Pastor Phil Terrell will officiate. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery in Duluth.
