Ruth M. Byrne of Superior, WI, 90 years young, joined her husband Bill in heaven on November 19, 2015. Ruth resided at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care, Superior for the last two years. Ruth's family was her pride and joy and all will miss her feisty spirit and her gentle presence.

She was born June 12, 1925, in Raymond, MN, daughter of Peter and Rica (VanHouten) Sankey.

Ruth enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and bird-watching. Some of her other interests included sewing, knitting, crafts and traveling.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, William S. Byrne in 1987; and 11 siblings.

Survivors 2 sons, Michael (Pat) Byrne, Savage, MN, and Larry (Barb) Byrne, Monmouth, IL; and 6 daughters, Mary (Charles) Verville, Lenexa, KS, Patti Cline, Bloomington, MN, Donna Paine, Lake Nebagamon, WI, Barb (Gene) Bergren, South Range, WI, Colleen (Al) Kitagawa, Richfield, MN, and Christine (Todd) Reiten, Lakeville, MN; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Cathedral of Christ the King, Superior. Reverend Father Andrew Ricci will be the celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cedar Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care, 4527 E. Marquardt Road, Superior.
