Ruth Florence
Williams
August 25, 1925 – April 2, 2019
Ruth Florence Williams, 93, of Superior, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
She was born in Superior on August 25, 1925, the daughter of Nikolai and Eleanor Holden.
Nursing was Ruth's passion, a career both in Wisconsin and Florida spanning many decades. In her youth she was a proud figure skater in the Ice Follies prior to earning her pilot's license. In her early years, she was active in Concordia Lutheran Church and the Eastern Star. Ruth was generous, hard-working, and loved life.
Survived by two children, daughter Karen Marsh and son Eugene (Tina) Johnson; six grandchildren, Julie (Dan) Von Bargen, Joel Marsh, Nicole (Scott) Nyberg, Carrie Wolden, Cassandra (Bret) Csencsitz, and John Trask; great-grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, Alden, Meagan, Joseph, Malerie, Devin, Kyle, Gage, William, and Cordelia; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert Holden and June Ayer; son-in-law, Michael Marsh; first husband, Malcolm Johnson; second husband, Alfred 'Dean' Williams; and her fiancé and life partner for almost 40 years, Willard 'Biff' Baker of Palmetto, FL, where they spent all those years happily hosting everyone in the family (her youngest grandson, John, took his first steps in that house!); but most significantly, Ruth was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Sally Ruth, almost 20 years ago, a heartbreak with which the entire family continues to live.
The family plans a private celebration of life, with any memorials directed to the staff of Twin Ports Health Services (formerly Golden Living) or a favorite charity. The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care Ruth received from the staff and administrator Peggy of Twin Ports Health, as well as the staff of Essentia-St. Mary's Hospice during the last year of her life.
